Kerala University of Health Sciences sanctions 600 additional MBBS seats for this year

Kerala: Bringing good news to medical aspirants in Kerala, the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) has sanctioned 600 additional MBBS seats for the academic year 2025-26.
These new additional seats have been added to a total of 7 Medical Colleges, including 1 new Medical college.
The seats in Travancore Medical College-Kollam have increased from 150 to 200. The seats have been increased from 200 to 250 in Malabar College-Kozhikode, from 200 to 250 in Al Azhar Medical College Thodupuzha, from 150 to 250 in Jubilee-Thrissur, by 150 in the new medical college in Palakkad, from 150 to 200 in SUT in Thiruvananthapuram, and from 200 to 250 in PK Das College in Vaniyamkulam, reports Kerala Kaumudi
50 seats each have already been allocated in Kasaragod and Wayanad Government Medical Colleges.
Admissions to these seats can be made this year itself.

With the addition of these 600 new MBBS seats, the total number of MBBS seats in Kerala, both in the government and private sectors, will increase from 4,555 to 5,155. Of these, the government sector will now have 1,855 MBBS seats, compared to the previous 1,755, according to TOI.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) released the tentative MBBS seat matrix for the academic year 2025-2026. As per the data released by the Apex Medical Commission, there are a total of 123700 MBBS seats available this year, including the 6850 MBBS seats that the NMC approved this year.
Last year, the Commission granted permission for 117750 MBBS seats. However, during the renewal process for the Academic Year 2025-2026, a total of 1056 seats were reduced.
