The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued an advisory and Instructions for Reporting/Joining of NBEMS Seats allotted through NEET PG 2026 Counseling conducted by MCC.
The Online Centralised Merit-Based Counselling for All India Quota (AIQ) seats for the 2026 admission session has been notified by the MCC, DGHS (MoHFW).
UPDATION OF REPORTING/JOINING STATUS ON INTRA-MCC PORTAL
1 Candidates allotted with NBEMS seats must follow the revised counselling process (as notified by MCC) & the reporting/joining status to be updated on the Intra-MCC portal within the prescribed timeline by the concerned hospital as per the schedule notified by MCC. Failure of the hospital to update the reporting/joining status will result in the seat being treated as vacant and carried forward to the next round.
2 All NBEMS-accredited hospitals are required to verify the prescribed original documents at the time of joining. Hospitals must ensure the fulfilment of eligibility criteria by the candidate for admission to the allotted seat, as detailed in the information bulletin.
3 The hospital has to ensure that the candidate allotted to reserved category seats (i.e. SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS etc.) should possess the correct and valid category certificate as per the guidelines prescribed in the information bulletin of NEET-PG 2026.
4 It shall be the responsibility of the NBEMS-accredited hospital/institute to ensure that the trainee fulfils the prescribed eligibility criteria before permitting the trainee to join the NBEMS course.
5 In case any hospital/institute is found to have knowingly or negligently approved/forwarded false, fabricated, incorrect or otherwise deficient records/information/documents for the purpose of permitting a candidate to join an NBEMS course or for registration, the hospital/institute shall be liable for appropriate action under the applicable NBEMS rules, regulations, directions and accreditation norms, including imposition of monetary penalty of ₹1,00,000/- per such candidate, wherever applicable.
According to the advisory, 'Floating' candidates (those who have opted for upgradation from Round 1 to Round 2, and from Round 2 to Round 3) must strictly adhere to the guidelines and the counselling process issued by the MCC. NBEMS will not intervene in the counselling process conducted by the MCC.
ANNUAL COURSE FEE
1 In view of the change in process of counselling conducted by MCC, the competent authority of NBEMS has decided not to collect the 1st year course fee in NBEMS accounts during the counselling process and candidates allotted a seat by NBEMS and finally willing to join the course by exercising the FREEZE option are required to pay the 1st-year annual course fee to the NBEMS-accredited hospital where the candidate has been allotted the seat.
2 Such candidates who are willing to participate in subsequent rounds of counselling for upgradation of seat are not required to pay the 1st year course fee while awaiting upgradation. They shall pay the 1st year course fee directly to the institute which they finally decide to join by freezing the seat.
3 The concerned NBEMS accredited institutes shall not collect the 1st year course fee if the candidate has chosen the FLOAT (upgradation) option during the counselling process. The hospital is required to collect the course fee from the candidates who are willing to join and do not opt for upgradation in the subsequent round of counselling.
4 The reporting/joining status must be updated accordingly on the Intra-MCC portal. Failure to do so will result in the seat being carried forward to the next round. Institutes must also review their seat positions before each round to avoid excess allotment. The hospitals may note that the timelines prescribed by MCC have to be strictly adhered to. NBEMS shall not be able to give any relaxation in the prescribed timelines.
The medical examination of the candidate shall be conducted by the Medical Board of the concerned NBEMS-accredited hospitals. Only those candidates found medically fit shall be allowed to join the course.
