NBE approves 2 DNB General Surgery seats at Orchid Medical Centre

Ranchi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has granted approval to Orchid Medical Centre to start two Diplomate of National Board (DNB) seats in General Surgery.
With the approval, the private healthcare facility will begin its DNB General Surgery programme from the current academic session. The programme will provide postgraduate doctors with clinical training and practical experience in surgical care.
The hospital said the course will give trainees exposure to modern surgical techniques and hands-on experience in various surgical procedures.
Commenting on this, Dr S C Jain, Chairperson of Orchid Medical Centre, told TOI, that admissions to the two-seat DNB General Surgery programme will be carried out through the National Eligibility-Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) from the current academic session.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that six government medical institutions in Odisha had received recognition from NBEMS to expand postgraduate medical training programmes. The recognition covered 17 postgraduate seats across four specialities, including paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthesiology and medicine.
Five district headquarters hospitals (DHHs) in Jagatsinghpur, Jeypore in Koraput, Phulbani in Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Rayagada received recognition to offer diploma programmes in paediatrics. Each hospital was granted two seats, taking the total to 10 seats.
Meanwhile, the DHH Jagatsinghpur also received recognition for a diploma programme in obstetrics and gynaecology with 2 seats, while DHH Angul was granted recognition for 1 seat in the same speciality. In addition, Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput, received NBEMS recognition for 4 Diplomate of National Board (DNB) seats, including 2 each in anaesthesiology and medicine.
