NEET counselling 2026: BFUHS restores Punjab quota candidature of 4 aspirants

In two separate notices issued by the BFUHS, the university restored the candidature of four students who had earlier been debarred from the 85% Punjab State Quota, while also confirming that the Sports Category merit list prepared by the Punjab Sports Department will be used for seat allotment in Round 2.

The developments come against the backdrop of BFUHS’s earlier action against candidates found to have applied simultaneously for State Quota seats in Punjab and another State or Union Territory. After receiving representations from some of the affected candidates and verifying their records with the concerned States and UTs, BFUHS has now restored four candidates to the Punjab State Quota pool.

As per the public notice, a few of the students' candidatures have been restored for consideration against the 85% Punjab State Quota seats under NEET UG 2026 counselling.

The university clarified that the restoration followed representations from the candidates and verification of relevant records from the concerned States and Union Territories.

However, BFUHS has also made it clear that restoration does not automatically guarantee admission. The four candidates will still have to satisfy all other applicable eligibility conditions, counselling rules and regulations.

In another notice issued the same day, BFUHS announced that the Sports Category Merit List for candidates who had applied during the first round of MBBS/BDS counselling has been prepared by the Office of the Director, Sports, Punjab.
