NEET PG: AFMS issues notice for sponsored Medical Officers seeking PG medical admissions

NEET PG: AFMS issues notice for sponsored Medical Officers seeking PG medical admissions

New Delhi- Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) released a notice for Medical Officers sponsored by Paramilitary Organisations and other Organisations of the Government of India for Postgraduate Courses for MD, MD and DNB through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2024 exam at AFMS Institute for the year 2024.

AFMS conducts postgraduate training for doctors of the Armed Forces Medical Services, to meet the specialist requirements of the Armed Forces Medical Services. On this, additional seats, if any, are offered to sponsored candidates from friendly foreign countries, paramilitary organisations/other organisations of the Government of India, ex-SSC officers of AFMS and civilian doctors.

As per the notice, earlier the 'Sponsorship Certificates' of willing candidates sponsored by paramilitary organisations/other Government of India organisations were sent by the candidates directly to this Directorate General, many of which were found incomplete.

Therefore, it is notified that from now onwards, the 'Sponsorship Certificate' of the candidates along with required supporting documents duly endorsed by the competent authority is to be consolidated and forwarded by the concerned Ministry/Headquarters of Paramilitary Organisations/Headquarters of other Government of India Organisations to DGAFMS Office. Only correspondence received through official channels will be accepted and personal correspondence from candidates will not be accepted.

Meanwhile, the Sponsorship Certificate is to be filled as per the guidelines mentioned below-

1 Original ink signed by the Competent Authority (not below the rank of Director or equivalent) in the respective Ministry of Govt of India/ HQ of the Para Military organisation/ Head office of other GoI organisations in which the individual is employed.

2 Duly affixed with the rubber stamp & office seal of the Competent Authority.

3 It is mandatory to specify the subjects and the degree (MD/MS/DNB) for which the candidate is being sponsored. The candidates are advised to select, during counselling, only the subjects for which they have been sponsored by their respective Ministry/ HQ of Para Military organization/ Head office of other GoI organizations. Under no circumstances will admission be granted in a subject which has not been sponsored by the sponsoring authority.

4 For the upcoming NEET PG exam, the last date for the sponsorship certificate, from the respective Ministry/ HQ of Para Military organisation/ Head office of other GoI organisations, to reach this office is 15 Jul 2024. However, the official address to which the sponsorship certificates are to be submitted by the respective Ministry/ HQ of the Para Military organizations/ Head office of other GoI organizations and the email ID for communication and queries are mentioned in the notice.

As per the Information Bulletin for PG Courses in AFMS Institutions through NEET PG 2024 admission to the under-mentioned Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) training institutes is open to eligible candidates:

1 Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

2 Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt.

3 INHS Asvini (Mumbai).

4 Command Hospital Air Force (Bangalore).

5 Command Hospital Eastern Command (Kolkata).

6 Command Hospital Western Command (Chandimandir).

7 Command Hospital Central Command (Lucknow).

8 Institute of Aerospace Medicine (Bengaluru).

9 Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt.

Candidates should preserve the Score & admit cards of NEET-PG 2024, which are required to be produced during counselling to be conducted for admission to Postgraduate courses in their respective categories.

ALLOTMENT OF SEATS AND RESERVATION

1 There is no provision for reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/PwD in the Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions conducting Post Graduate Medical Courses.

2 Selection and final admissions to these institutions shall be made by the Armed Forces Medical Services based on the merit of the candidates. Also, the candidates who have applied online both to NEET-PG and to AFMS and the admissions shall be done as per Govt of India Ministry of Defence rules and regulations in conjunction with those applicable to the affiliating Universities.

3 All eligible candidates desirous of pursuing MD/ MS/DNB in AFMS institutions will have to mandatorily register with MCC of DGHS, MoHFW, Govt of India at its official website to be eligible for AFMS counselling for Post Graduate courses at AFMS teaching institutes, failing which they will NOT be considered for allocation of specialities.

4 The designated Counseling Authority i.e. Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will do only the Registration part of AFMS counselling. Counselling for serving AFMS Officers, GoI Sponsored & EX AFMS SSC Officers will be through online mode based on inter-se merit. Further, Counseling for civilian candidates shall be through offline mode, wherein the merit-based allotment of seats and admission process will be conducted by AFMS after the physical fitness test. Candidates are advised to be familiar with the terms & conditions of the physical fitness test conducted by AFMS and visit AFMS's official website for further information in this regard.

However, a separate handbook informing details of the counselling process and the applicable reservation will be released later by the designated counselling authority for NEET-PG 2024. Along with this, AFMS will also publish a separate notification with detailed instructions mentioning eligibility criteria and admission procedure for PG courses (MD/MS/DNB) at AFMS institutions.
