NMC nod to 50 more MBBS seats at Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences Raipur
Chhattisgarh: In an update for candidates participating in Chhattisgarh NEET UG counselling 2026, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), has revised the MBBS seat matrix of Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Nava Raipur, informing of the increase in the intake from 100 to 150 MBBS seats for the academic session 2026-27.
According to the official notice issued by the DME Chhattisgarh, the revision follows a Letter of Renewal issued by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) under the National Medical Commission (NMC), along with the NMC order, documents submitted by the institute and the Consent of Affiliation issued by Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Memorial Health Sciences and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh.
On this basis, the state counselling authority has now included 150 MBBS seats for the institute in the revised NEET UG 2026 seat matrix.
The NMC documents attached with the notice show that Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute had sought permission to increase its annual MBBS intake by 50 seats, from 100 to 150, for 2026-27.
Earlier, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) had issued a Letter of Disapproval dated July 20, 2026, after noting deficiencies relating to faculty and clinical load. The college subsequently filed a first appeal before the NMC. However, the NMC Appeal Committee noted that the UGMEB had already issued a Conditional Letter of Renewal on July 9, 2026, granting renewal of 150 MBBS seats for the academic year 2026-27.
The revised figure was also reflected in the MBBS seat matrix issued by MARB on July 14, 2026. Since the relief sought by the college had already been granted, the appeal was treated as infructuous and disposed of without further orders.
The NMC has, however, clarified that the permission for 150 seats is a conditional renewal. MARB retains the authority to conduct physical, virtual or hybrid assessments and take regulatory action if deficiencies continue or emerge later.
REVISED SEAT DISTRIBUTION
As per the revised seat matrix, the total 150 MBBS seats at Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute have been distributed as follows-

Under the State Quota, 64 seats have been earmarked across UR, ST, Special ST, SC and OBC categories in accordance with the applicable 200-point reservation roster. The matrix provides 27 UR seats, 20 ST seats, 1 Special ST seat, 7 SC seats and 9 OBC seats.
Similarly, the Management Quota comprises 64 seats, including 28 UR, 19 ST, 1 Special ST, 7 SC and 9 OBC seats. The NRI quota accounts for 22 seats, comprising 9 UR, 6 ST, 1 Special ST, 3 SC and 3 OBC seats. Horizontal reservation provisions for women, persons with disabilities, freedom fighters and Sainik categories have also been reflected in the matrix.
