Speaking to The New Indian Express, Dr. P Vasanthamani, Secretary of State Selection Committee, shared that after round 2, the MCC surrenders the seats to the state. But this year, a stray vacancy round is being held as per orders from Supreme Court.
"We have requested the MCC to return the seats to the state if they are not filled even in the stray-vacancy round, scheduled on Monday. We have to wait and see if they would agree; they (the MCC) cannot keep holding rounds to fill up the seats," Vasanthamani said.
The officials have clearly stated that MCC did not reduce the percentile to fill the seats. Therefore, only registered candidates can apply.
The application process in MBBS/BDS courses is based on the NEET-UG scorecard, and only NEET qualified candidates can apply and participate in the counselling process. The counselling process is conducted for seats under 85% state quota and 100% private colleges. The MCC conducts the counselling of the remaining 15% of seats. This scorecard is accepted by various medical and dental government and private colleges. The admission to the candidates is made by online counselling based on rank by applying rules of reservations. The final admission confirmation is given only after the verification of documents.
