UP DGME debars 71 MBBS, BDS candidates from NEET 2026 counselling
Uttar Pradesh: The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has barred a total of 71 MBBS and BDS candidates from participating in the UP NEET UG counselling for the academic year 2026-27 after they either failed to report for admission following seat allotment in last year's counselling or resigned from their admitted seats before completing the course.
According to the notice issued by the UPDGME, in this regard, the action has been taken in line with the counselling rules prescribed for the UP NEET UG 2025-26 admission session. The Directorate has published separate lists of candidates who did not report after being allotted seats and those who subsequently resigned from their courses.
The notice lists 38 candidates who were allotted MBBS seats last year during the Stray Vacancy/Special Stray Vacancy rounds but did not take admission at their respective institutions.
Under the UP NEET UG 2025-26 counselling policy, candidates who receive a seat in the Stray Vacancy Round but fail to join are liable to have their security deposit forfeited and may also be barred from the subsequent year’s counselling.
UPDGME has separately named 13 BDS candidates who did not report after receiving seat allotments.
Apart from the non-reporting candidates, the Directorate has also taken action against those who were admitted but later vacated their seats before completing the course.
The notice lists 13 MBBS candidates and seven BDS candidates under the resigned category.
DGME cited the applicable government order, which states that if a candidate leaves an MBBS or BDS seat after the final round of counselling but before completing the course, the candidate may be debarred from the admission process for the next academic session.
Taken together, the notice covers 51 candidates who did not report after allotment, 38 MBBS and 13 BDS, and 20 candidates who resigned, 13 MBBS and seven BDS.
Accordingly, DGME has declared that all the candidates named in the published lists are debarred from participating in the UP NEET UG 2026-27 counselling process.
