Along with this, the DGME Uttar Pradesh has issued a detailed set of instructions for candidates participating in the second round of online counselling for UP NEET UG 2026. The directions cover seat allotment, security money, choice filling, document verification, admission formalities and fee payment for medical and dental seats across government and private colleges in the state.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ONLINE COUNSELLING OF SECOND CYCLE UNDER UP NEET UG-2026 GUIDANCE

1 Allotment of seats in the second round of counselling will be based on the merit list of the second round.

2 The candidates who are not allotted and admitted in the first round of counselling will not be required to deposit the security amount again to participate in the second round of counselling.

3 If the candidates allotted in the first round of counselling do not take admission or resign within the stipulated time after admission, then there is a provision of free exit for the candidates. Therefore, if such candidates wish to participate in the second round of counselling, they are not required to deposit the security amount again.

4 In the first and second round of counselling under UP NEET UG 2026, only those candidates who have deposited the registration/security amount by the prescribed date and time and whose documents have been verified online are eligible for the choice filling process.

5 During choice filling in the second round of counselling, the vacant/not reported and resigned seats of the first round will be displayed to the candidates as clear-cut vacancies. In addition to the above vacancies, the option of Seat Against Cancellation (SAC) will also be displayed. SAC seats are a type of virtual vacancy. If the seat of a previously admitted candidate is upgraded, his/her seat will be allotted to another candidate based on merit and/or choice, as per the rules.

6 Candidates should fill their choices online based on their preferences for admission to seats in government and private medical and dental colleges. Candidates should only fill their choices for colleges they wish to enrol in. There is no limit on online choice filling. Candidates must lock their choices after filling their choices. Failure to do so will result in the candidate being excluded from the seat allocation process, for which the candidate will be solely responsible.

7 After the choice is locked by the candidate, no change or alteration can be made to it and no application received in this regard in the Directorate General will be considered.

8 If a candidate is allocated a different seat based on their re-allocation option, the previously allocated seat will automatically become vacant and be allocated to another candidate. In the absence of re-allocation, the candidate's previously occupied seat will remain unchanged.

9 The candidate must ensure that, for re-allotment, other options/choices are filled only after leaving the option of the previously admitted seat; otherwise, in case the previously admitted seat is re-allotted, the candidate will have to appear at the nodal centre and complete the admission process as before.

10 Candidates must secure admission to a seat allotted through the second round of counselling for government and private medical/dental colleges. Otherwise, their entire security deposit will be forfeited. Such candidates will be eligible to participate in the third round of counselling only after depositing the security deposit again.

11 If the candidates admitted in the first round of counselling for medical/dental colleges of government and private sector do not take admission after re-admission in the second round of counselling, then the entire security amount deposited by the candidate will be forfeited.

12 After allotment through the second round of counselling, the candidates allotted in government sector colleges will have to appear at the concerned Medical/Dental College Institute/University and the candidates allotted in private sector colleges will have to appear at the concerned Board Centre and complete their admission process.

Meanwhile, the DGME Uttar Pradesh has issued an important update for candidates admitted through the first round of UP NEET UG 2026 online counselling, allowing eligible candidates to resign from their allotted seats within the stipulated deadline.

As per the notice issued by the UPDGME in this regard, candidates who secured admission to MBBS/BDS seats in government or private medical/dental colleges through Round 1 counselling and now wish to give up their allotted seats have been provided an opportunity to do so.

The Directorate has informed such candidates that they can resign from their admitted seat up to 5:00 PM on September 15, 2026.

However, candidates cannot complete the resignation process entirely on their own online. Those wishing to surrender their seats will have to personally appear at their respective nodal centre and complete the resignation process within the prescribed deadline, according to the notice.
