New Delhi: Even though the National Eligibility-Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET-MDS) 2025 is scheduled to take place on 31.01.2025, the application form for the entrance exam has not been released yet.

Amid this, the dentists willing to appear in the NEET MDS 2025 examination have expressed their doubts about whether the entrance test would be postponed.

Pointing out that less than a month is left between the commencement of form fillup and the expected the date of exam, the aspirants have expressed their opinion that it would not be possible for the authorities to complete the entire process including form fill-up, providing an edit window to the participants and complete the process of center allocation.

While there is still no clarity on the matter from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), the All India Students Dental Association (DENTODONTICS) mentioned in a social media post that they have received thousands of queries from the aspirants seeking to know whether the NEET MDS 2025 exam would get deferred.

Referring to the trends of NEET MDS exam in the past five to six years, the association explained in a video that generally the gap between form release date and the date of examination ranged from 45 days to 120 days. In the case of NEET MDS 2024, this gap was of 45 days and for NEET MDS 2023, there was a gap of 50 days between the date of releasing the form and the date of entrance test.

Based on this trend, the association claimed that even if the forms are released in the first week of January, 2025, then also, the candidates will have to be provided a window of at least 22 days for form filling, followed by an edit window of at least 8 days. After this, the authorities will have to release the admit card allocate the exam centres to the candidates. This entire process will take more than 30 days, claimed the association.

"With less than 30 days left and no signs of forms being released, processes like form filling, edit window, and center allocation seem nearly impossible to manage within a month," the association mentioned in an Insta post, adding that "While there’s a strong possibility of postponement, it ultimately depends on the authorities. Mismanagement like this has been observed over the past three years."

Raising the issue, an X (formerly Twitter) tagged NTA, the Union Education Minister and the Prime Minister in a post and mentioned, "Dear sir, MDS Neet 2025 is scheduled tentatively on 31st Jan25 but registrations not started. govt is not serous on Med exams always. last min rush causes challanges like paper leaks. May i request u to be serious on medical exam."

Last month, raising the issue, the X page of Medical NEET PG/SS/MDS/INICET had mentioned, "With just 42 days remaining and no application form released by the NBE for NEET MDS 2025, dental students are growing increasingly concerned about a potential extension of the examination and uncertainty surrounding the examination process. This delay has left many students in a state of confusion, especially as the exam is scheduled for January 31, 2025. We urge the NBE and MoHFW to address these concerns promptly and provide clarity to alleviate the anxiety of dental doctors."
