Madhya Pradesh- Madhya Pradesh has added 420 MBBS seats for the second phase of NEET UG 2025 state counselling, bringing the total to 1,073 seats available for fresh allotment.
Medical Dialogues recently reported that 420 additional MBBS seats will now be available in the second phase of Madhya Pradesh National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Graduate (NEET UG) counselling for the academic year 2025. This will give more opportunities to the candidates participating in the said counselling, an opportunity to choose the institute of their choice.
A total of 653 seats are available in the MP NEET UG 2025 second round counselling. Now, with the newly added 420 seats, a total of 1,073 MBBS seats are available for fresh allotment and upgradation, according to TOI report.
The second round of counselling under the MP state quota will include a total of 170 MBBS seats from govt medical colleges, with 85 seats each from newly approved facilities in Sheopur and Singrauli. Following the Delhi high court's authorisation for Index Medical College, Indore to participate in NEET UG counselling for 2025-26, 250 MBBS seats from this private institution will also be available.
Moreover, out of the total 4,775 state quota seats for MBBS, 3710 seats were allotted in the first round, of which 1,970 were in government institutions and 1,740 in private institutions. Around 90% of the seats were filled in government institutions, while the number was less in private institutions.
In addition, of the 2,163 MBBS seats in govt institutions, 1,970 were allocated in round one, leaving roughly 193 vacant. However, the Private institutions had 2,200 MBBS seats, with 1740 filled, leaving approximately 460 unoccupied. In total, 653 MBBS seats remained vacant after initial counselling. These vacancies, alongside newly added seats, will be available in round two.
Meanwhile, the initial round of NEET UG state-level counselling in Madhya Pradesh ended when the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) finalised admissions on Thursday at 6 PM. For second-round upgrades, candidates can utilise the "Willingness to Upgradation' link on their DME portal till today, i.e. Aug 30 at 11 pm, as per DME notification.
