Suicide
Nagpur: In an unfortunate incident, an MBBS intern at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a shawl inside the bathroom of his hostel room.
A suicide note was recovered from the scene; however, the contents have not been disclosed by the police, making the reason behind the student taking the extreme step unclear. The student’s mobile phone has been seized for forensic and digital analysis.
According to a recent media report by Nagpur Today, the incident came to light when the student did not leave his room after Saturday night. Since he did not show up to his fellow interns, they became concerned and went to the student's room, but it was locked from the inside. Following this, they alerted the hostel warden, who unlocked the door and found the student's body hanging inside the bathroom.
Immediately, the college authorities informed the police, who reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. During the investigation, the police recovered a suicide note.
As per the daily, the deceased had recently completed his MBBS education from AIIMS Nagpur and was undergoing his mandatory internship. His sister is a BAMS doctor, and his father, a school teacher.
A case of accidental death has been registered in connection with the case, and the police have launched an investigation in this regard.
