Gujarat: Depressed Final year MBBS student hangs self on Doctors' Day
Vadodara: While the whole country was celebrating Doctors' day on July 1, depression allegedly claimed the life of a would-be doctor as a final-year MBBS student at Baroda Medical College ended his life by hanging himself with a wire inside his hostel room.
Hailing originally from Rajasthan, the 25-year-old medico was pursuing his medical education at Baroda Medical College, Gujarat. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem.
Although police haven't found any suicide notes left by the deceased, primary investigations have revealed that the late medico was depressed for a while and was undergoing treatment for the same. In fact, it has come to the knowledge of the Police that the medico was stressed due to academics.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the father of the late medico had been staying with him for some time considering his mental health condition. However, on Thursday afternoon, the medico was left alone in his room for a while.
It was then that the medico allegedly hung himself with an electric wire inside his Room of the New Medical Hostel block around 6 p.m, adds Our Gujarati.
While commenting on the matter, V N Mahida, police inspector, Raopura police station told TOI, "He was suffering from depression and was also under medication for some time. His father had been staying with him for past few days as his condition wasn't improving."
"He was under pressure due to academics and exams," Mahinda added.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported a similar incident where a final-year MBBS student attached to S Nijalingappa Medical College and H S K Hospital had allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her rented apartment. As per the family members of the deceased, the medico had been undergoing treatment for anxiety and depression for the last couple of years.
