JIPMER Announces Orientation Program for MBBS Interns 2024 batch, Details
Puducherry- The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has announced about the Intern Orientation Program (IOP) for MBBS interns to the January 2024 batch. It has been announced through a circular which is issued by the Head of the Department of Medical Education.
The Intern Orientation Program for the January 2024 batch will be organised for 2.5 days from February 1st to 3rd, 2024, at the Mini Auditorium, 4th Floor, JIPMER Academic Centre. The registration for the program will open at 8:30 am on Thursday, February 1, 2024. Full-time attendance and punctuality are mandatory for all candidates. It will be treated as an absence if any intern arrives late or fails to attend on any of the programme days. Heads of Departments are urged to circulate this information among interns and encourage their participation. Additionally, it is requested that no interns should be assigned to night duty from January 31 to February 2, 2024. Unit heads are advised to release trainees on time to ensure their timely attendance at all sessions.
Moreover, Dr Subathra A., an Additional Professor of Radio-Diagnosis, Dr R Rajalakshmi, an Associate Professor of Physiology, and Dr R. Mirunalini, an Associate Professor of Pharmacology, serve as the coordinators for the Intern Orientation Program.
The Intern Orientation Program is organised to familiarise medical interns with their roles within various work settings, such as wards, OPD, emergency rooms, and the community. The program aims to equip interns with effective communication skills, both verbal and written, an understanding of patient's psychosocial needs, proper techniques for sample collection and transport for laboratory tests, awareness of ethical considerations in patient care, fostering a sense of belonging to the institute and emphasising their responsibility and accountability in patient care. Additionally, the program guides interns in interacting with medical representatives.
