New Delhi Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research clarifies on Zero MBBS seats in NEET 2025 counselling

New Delhi: After the seat matrix released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) revealed that zero seats were allotted to the Delhi-based Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (HIMSR), the college has issued a clarification in this regard.
Issuing a notice on 21.07.2025, the institute clarified that the issue is linked to an ongoing contentious issue between Jamia Hamdard and HIMSR, which is currently sub-judice. It also urged students, parents, and well-wishers to remain calm and avoid speculation.
Further, the institute assured all currently enrolled students that HIMSR continues to be a recognized and accredited medical institute, and there is no impact on the status or functioning of the college.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) officially released the tentative list of medical colleges and MBBS seat matrix for NEET 2025 counselling. According to the notification, altogether 775 medical colleges across 35 States and Union Territories will participate in the undergraduate medical admission process this year.
MCC released the seat matrix after the National Medical Commission (NMC) provided the tentative seat matrix for the First Round of MBBS seats for medical colleges across the country via an email dated 17.07.2025.
However, what was shocking was that in the tentative seat matrix (MBBS) for the academic year 2025-2026, zero (0) seats were allotted to nine institutes. The list of such medical colleges included (1) Gayathri Vidya Parishad Institute of Health Care & Medical Technology, Visakhapatnam, (2) Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Raipur, (3) Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Guru Ravidas marg, Hamdard Nagar, (4) Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, (5) Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Belgaum, (6) Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Indore, (7) Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, Udaipur, (8) Father Colombo Institute of Medical Sciences, Warangal, and (9) National Capital Region Institute of Medical Sciences, Meerut.
Consequently, HIMSR issued a public notice today. Referring to the MCC seat matrix, the notice mentioned, "It has come to our attention that Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (HIMSR) has been allotted zero seats in the seat matrix published by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for the MBBS admission session 2025-26."
"We would like to inform all stakeholders that this issue is linked to an ongoing contentious issue between Jamia Hamdard and HIMSR, which is currently sub-judice before the Hon'ble Court," clarified the institute.
HIMSR assured that the matter has been taken up to the Court on a priority basis and assured to make all efforts to remain an active participating institute for the current counselling phases of MCC.
"We are in active communication with the concerned authorities and the issue has been taken up on priority with Hon'able Court. We are making all efforts to remain an active participating institute for the current counselling phases of MCC. We are hopeful that it will get resolved and will be providing the updates as soon as any official response is received," the notice stated.
"We would also like to assure, all currently enrolled students that HIMSR continues to be a recognized and accredited medical institution, and there is no impact on the status or functioning of the college," it mentioned, further urging the students, parents and well-wishers to "remain calm and avoid speculation during this period."
