NMC nod to 100 MBBS seats at Nirmal Medical College
Adilabad: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Telangana, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its nod for 100 MBBS seats at Government Medical College in Nirmal.
The apex medical education regulatory body NMC has permitted the State to commence the MBBS admission in 100 seats at the medical college from the academic year 2023-2024.
According to a media report in DC, NMC issued a letter of intent (LOI) giving permission to GMC Nirmal for 100 MBBS seats. The medical college will be established at an estimated cost of Rs 166 crore.

This announcement has brought cheers to the people of the district, who were demanding for the facility for quite a long time. People of the district were demanding successive governments to create a medical college in the town since five decades. Finally, their dream became true.
The college is going to be established on a piece of 25 acres of land on the premises of the existing district headquarters hospital.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that senior health officials of the State had assured that around 950 to 1000 additional MBBS seats will be added to the State from the upcoming academic year.
Such an assurance was given by the State Health officials as they referred to the fact that NMC is encouraging all the State governments to set up more medical colleges.
The nine newly proposed medical colleges were decided to be established in Karimnagar, Khammam, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Jangaon , Nirmal, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally, Sircilla and Asifabad districts.
Now, the State Government is waiting for the nod from the apex medical education regulatory body for the remaining six medical colleges at Vikarabad, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Jangaon. With the NMC permission for these medical colleges, around 900 to 1000 additional MBBS seats will be available for admission for the medical aspirants from the State.
Forest Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, who expressed happiness over the permissions, thanked CM KCR for sanctioning the college and Health Minister Harish Rao for taking a special initiative for the people of the district.
