NMC nod to 5 MD Emergency Medicine, 5 DM Nephrology seats at Kakatiya Medical College
Hyderabad: Bringing good news to postgraduate medical aspirants in Telangana, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its permission for 5 MD and 5 DM seats at Katatiya Medical College (KMC).
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has given its permission for five Doctorate of Medicine (DM) seats in Nephrology and another five Doctor of Medicine (MD) seats in Emergency Medicine for the academic year 2023-2024.
MD or Doctor of Medicine course is a three-year postgraduate degree course that MBBS graduates can pursue after completing their UG medical education. While the duration of Doctorate of Medicine (DM) course is also for three years it is a super-speciality course. Doctors pursue the DM course to get specialized training in their respective field. Since this is a doctorate degree, it is required that the applicants have a postgraduate medical degree.
KMC, under Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), had submitted its proposal before the Apex medical education regulatory body for starting DM and MD courses in these two specialities.

On the basis of this, MARB has now given its nod to the college to start DM Nephrology and MD Emergency Medicine courses for this academic year and issued the Letter of Intent (LOI).
Congratulating the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) of the State, the Health Minister T Harish Rao mentioned in a Tweet, "Congratulations @dme_telangana for achieving 5 seats in MD Emergency Medicine, For the first time in #Telangana, State led Govt colleges and also getting approval for 5 seats in DM Nephrology in Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal."
