UP CM directs authorities to expedite construction of medical colleges
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed to expedite construction work of new medical colleges in the state along with Atal Medical University and warned that accountability will be fixed and action will be taken in case of unnecessary delay.
While reviewing the status of various construction projects being undertaken on the proposal of the Public Works Department (PWD), Yogi said, "The state government is determined towards achieving the vision of 'One district-One medical college'. It is top priority of the government to make medical colleges functional in all the districts."
He said that construction of medical colleges needs to be expedited in Bulandshahr, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gonda, Auraiya, Lalitpur, Sonbhadra, Kanpur Dehat, Pilibhit, Bijnor, Chandauli, Kaushambi, Kushinagar and Sultanpur districts. "Similarly, speedy construction of Atal Medical University is expected. Accountability will be fixed in case of inordinate delay and action will be taken," he said.
The CM said as these are projects of larger public interest, therefore any delay is acceptable. "All the construction work should be completed by June 2023. Quality of the construction work should be maintained. There is no dearth of money therefore the work must be completed on time," he said.
He said that the construction projects of the Department of Medical Education and Higher Education should be done on a weekly basis. "Physical inspection of the project sites should be done through drones and reports should be submitted to the concerned ministers. In cases of less manpower, additional arrangements should be made immediately and all the issues should be reported to the CM's Office. The departmental ministers should be apprised of the weekly progress of the projects," he directed.
Yogi said that UP will be hosting the 81st session of the Indian Road Congress (IRC) this year. "Union Ministers will participate in the programme to be held from October 8 to October 11. 2000 delegates from national and international organisations or companies involved in road construction are going to attend the event. For proper management and better coordination a meeting should be held between the PWD and other related departments at the level of the Chief Secretary," he directed.
He said that tight arrangements should be made for the security of the delegates participating in the IRC. "Better hospitality should be ensured. Delegates should also be made to visit places representing UP's culture like Lucknow, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Agra, Vrindavan and Mathura," he said.
The CM said that Maa Shakumbhari State University, Saharanpur, Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University, Aligarh and Maharaja Suheldev University, Azamgarh are being set up by the state government. "Their construction should also be completed on time. Special attention should be given to the quality of the construction works of Jananayak Chandrashekhar Ballia University," he directed.
He said that while constructing speed breakers, the convenience of people should be prioritised. "Construct table-top speed breakers. The elderly, children, women and patients should not face any kind of difficulties," he directed.
The CM said that innovative work has been done in the direction of improving the technology of road construction in the state. "The Rural Engineering Services department has not only improved the quality of roads, but also reduced the cost by preparing the road based on FDR technology. The construction work is being done under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana through Full Depth Reclamation Technique (FDR). Today, the Union government has presented UP's model before many other states to learn. Roads are being made from plastic waste. Such innovation should also be adopted by PWD," he said.
