NBE nod to Ambala Cantt Hospital for two Diploma Seats in DNB Opthalmology
Ambala: Bringing good news to the Postgraduate Medical aspirants in Haryana, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has given its nod for two diploma seats in Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Opthalmology course in the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment.
The nod from NBEMS comes after it inspected the facilities available at the Ambala Cantonment Hospital back in May 2022. At that time, the DNB accessor Dr JS Bhalla of Deen Dayal Hospital, New Delhi had reviewed the infrastructure available at the Civil Hospital.
DNB Degree, which is awarded to the specialist doctors in India, holds similar value to Postgraduate medical degree courses such as MD/MS courses and it gets awarded after completion of the course.

The Civil Hospital at Ambala Cantonment already has four eye surgeons with Dr. Renu Beri Pajni leading the Eye Department. As per the latest media report by the Tribune India, NBEMS has now given its nod for two diploma seats in DNB Opthalmology. With this, the availability of specialist doctors is expected to increase.
Speaking about this development, Dr. Renu Beri Pajni, the Head of the Eye Department at the Hospital explained to the daily that the government's plan for commencing DNB diploma courses in civil hospitals is for ensuring that there is no shortage of specialist doctors in the State. Dr Renu mentioned that this programme will increase the availability of specialist doctors in the civil hospitals of Haryana.
While commenting on the matter, the PMO of Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment, Dr. Rakesh Sehal told the daily, "Earlier, two seats in the Radiology Department were approved for the hospital. Now, the Eye Department has got the nod for two DNB seats. It will strengthen the health facilities at the hospital."
