NEET 2022 expected to be held in June-end
New Delhi: The much-awaited National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examination 2022 will probably be held by the end of June, 2022.
Indication regarding this was given in the meeting between the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Medical Advisory Council of the National Medical Commission (NMC), reports News.18.
NEET UG is the centralized common entrance examination, which all the medical aspirants in India must pass in order to secure admission in the MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BHMS programmes. Apart from this, NEET score is also valid for admission to BSc Nursing and BSc Life Sciences courses.
Last year, the NEET-UG 2021 exam was scheduled to be held in August 1. However, due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the exam got postponed and was rescheduled for September 12. Even after the examination process was over, the counselling for MBBS admission got delayed because of several pending legal procedures before the High Court and Supreme Court.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported that the National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to announce the schedule for NEET-UG examination next week. However, there was no word regarding the date for the exam.
As per the latest media report by News 18, the date of the undergraduate medical entrance test is expected to be held by the end of June, 2022. This was indicated in the last week meeting between the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Medical Advisory Council of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The exact date of the exam and the notification about it will be out by April at nta.nic.in or neet.nta.nic.in.
The daily further adds that the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health were discussing the possibility of holding NEET twice a year. However, until now, there has been no update regarding this and it is expected that the undergraduate medical entrance test would be held annually as before.
Last year, NEET 2021 had consisted of one Question Paper containing 180 Multiple Choice Questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The exam pattern was modified by NTA last year. Internal choice was introduced and each subject had been divided into two different sections. Section A consisted of 35 Questions and Section B had 15 Questions- out of these 15 Questions, candidates had to attempt only 10 questions.
News.18 adds that NEET 2022 exam will also have the internal choice as this year too state and central boards have offered syllabus cuts. Apart from this, NEET 2022 will be held in 13 languages, just like last year.
