NEET PG 2023: BFUHS releases admission process, fees structure for MD, MS, PG Diploma admissions, check out details
Faridkot: Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has issued guidelines for admission to Post Graduate Degree/Diploma - MD, MS, PG Diploma courses and Six-month training in Ultrasonography in the Health Sciences Educational Institutions (Medical/Dental)/ Hospitals in the State of Punjab -Session 2023 onwards.
Application –
The application for admissions, complete in all respect, shall be submitted to the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab. BFUHS may fix and charge fees for Prospectus, Application Fee, etc., as the competent authority approves.
Counseling quota -
BFUHS will conduct centralized counseling for admission to 50% of State Quota seats in Govt. Colleges and all seats in Private Medical / Dental Colleges, including Private/ Deemed Universities and Minority Institutions of the State of Punjab, based on Merit of NEET-PG 2023 as per procedure laid down by the National Medical Commission /Dental Council of India. BFUHS will decide on the process and schedule of counseling, and the details will be published on the official website.
Eligibility –
All admissions to Govt. and Private Institutions, including Private/ Deemed Universities and Minority Institutions, will be based on the merit of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Post Graduate) (NEET-PG-2023). The eligibility criteria and other conditions will be as prescribed in Information Bulletin for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Post Graduate) for admission to MD/MS/Post Graduate Courses 2023 issued by the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
One year compulsory rotatory internship is an essential prequalification for acquiring eligibility for admission to Postgraduate courses, and the candidate should be registered with the State Medical Council/Dental Council. The cutoff date for the internship's completion will be as decided/fixed by NMC/DCI. However, the condition of a one-year compulsory rotatory internship does not apply to candidates specifically exempted.
The candidates who, after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS/BDS or the foreign Medical/Dental Degree recognized by GOI/MCl/DCI), are undergoing 12-month compulsory rotatory Internship/practical training and are likely to complete the same by the date as decided by NMC/DCI, will be eligible for admission provided they complete the compulsory rotatory Internship and obtains provisional or permanent registration. Such a candidate will have to produce a certificate from the Head of the Institution that they will complete the internship by the date decided by NMC/DCI.
Any candidate admitted in a previous session in MD / MS / PG courses will be eligible for new admission in new MD / MS / PG courses as a fresh candidate based on the result of NEET / PG. However, in case a candidate was admitted previously and drops out or leaves the Post Graduate Degree/Diploma course in between and seeks a fresh admission, the candidate will have to deposit a fee for the full course (3 years for a degree & 2 years for a diploma course and Bond if applicable).
Further, the candidates who have completed PG Diploma will be eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Degree course.
Seat –
The tentative distribution of seats will be displayed on the official website, i.e., www.bfuhs.ac.in. In case of any dispute in the distribution of seats for medical courses for all the institutions in the State of Punjab, the Director of Medical Education and Research, Punjab, will be the appellate authority.
In the Govt. For institutions, 50% of the total seats will be filled by the Government of India at the All India level, and the remaining 50% of seats shall be filled at the State level as State Quota seats. All state quota seats in general, PWD, and EWS categories will be Institutional preference seats.
PCMS doctors -
PCMS doctors covered under Para 15.3 of the notification, whether they have passed their qualifying examination from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, or any other University located in Punjab or any other University located outside Punjab, will be eligible to be considered under Institutional preference category.
The PCMS doctor who has completed one year of service, including the period of RMO service as of 31.03.2023, is also eligible for seeking admissions in PG courses based on NEET PG without any incentive marks. Such candidates will be considered institutional preference candidates irrespective of University from where they have passed their qualifying examination. These candidates must get NOC from the competent authority of the Punjab Govt.
Distribution of Seats in the following private institutions/universities would be as under –
Dayanand Medical College (DMC), Ludhiana -
1. Open Merit Category (Govt. Quota) — 50%
2. Management Quota 50%, out of which NRI quota is up to 15%
Christian Medical College (CMC) and Christian Dental College(CDC), Ludhiana -
Christian Medical College and Christian Dental College Ludhiana have been categorized as Christian Minority institutions, and the Hon'ble Supreme Court, in its order dated 09.08.2004 and final order dated 02.12.2010 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 357 of 2004, allowed them to make admissions as per the procedure followed by them for more than 25 years till 2002-2003.
Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Amritsar -
General Quota 50% out of which NRI quota upto 7.5% Sikh Minority Quota 50% out of which NRI quota upto 7.5%
Adesh University of Health Sciences & Research, Bathinda -
Distribution of seats will be as provided in The Adesh University Act, 2012, and their statutes. 85% of seats are earmarked for bonafide residents of Punjab, and 15 % are earmarked for candidates from other states. No reservation based on place of domicile is allowed for PG course seats per orders of the Supreme Court of India and High Courts. Accordingly, Adesh University can admit 50% of students from Institutional Preference and 50% from the open category. For 50% Institutional Quota, the admissions shall be made from candidates who have done MBBS from Adesh University Bathinda. The remaining 50% of seats shall be filled among students who have done MBBS from universities other than Adesh University Bathinda. There is no provision for an NRI quota in the statutes of the University; as such, there shall be no quota for NRI candidates.
NRI -
Private institutions and universities have been allowed up to 15% NRI seats of the total seats. Detailed distribution has also been explained in Para 16.1 above. These seats shall be filled based on merit in NEET-PG-2023, in order of preference as under –
1. Category I - NRIs/Children of NRI who originally belonged to the State of Punjab.
2. Category II - NRIs/ Children of NRI who originally belonged to an Indian State other than Punjab.
Foreign Country Passport, Green Card, Permanent Resident Card, or Proof of Residency of a Foreign country issued by the competent authority or OCl/P10 Card issued by the Government of India shall be considered.
If a sufficient number of candidates under the first category are eligible and available, they will be admitted first, even if students under the subsequent categories are higher in merit. The leftover seats in the NRI quota in private institutions will go to the management quota and shall be filled on merit based on the NEET-PG-2023.
Candidates applying under the NRI category must get an eligibility certificate from BFUHS, Faridkot. The NRI students will have to give a Bank Guarantee / Surety Bond for the balance of the fee if they opt to pay the fee in installments on an annual basis proportionately. Availability of NRI seats shall be as per the roster maintained subject-wise by each Private College.
Reservations –
Reservations will be as per the existing policy.
Government college - Scheduled Caste 25%, Backward Class 10%, Physically Disabled 5 %, EWS 10%. All the certificates will follow the latest instructions the Government of Punjab issued. The reservation of physically challenged persons will be per the provision of the Right of Persons with Disability Act-2016. The availability of seats for a reservation shall be as per hundred point roster being maintained category-wise/subject-wise/institution-wise.
Private college - Scheduled Caste 25%, Backward Class 10%, Physically Disabled 5 %, EWS 10%.
Admission process –
The schedule of the admission process, i.e., the commencement of classes, cutoff date, etc., will be declared by the National Medical Commission /Councils.
A candidate from the reserved category shall have the right to compete for admission in open merit or general category seats as per his/her merit on the day of counseling. The selected candidate shall not be counted towards admission in the reserved category. A combined merit list and separate merit lists of each category shall also be prepared and displayed on the website of the University.
All India quota candidates shall submit a bond of Rs. 10 Lakhs to serve the State of Punjab for one year after completion of Post Graduate course. All other conditions would remain the same as for State quota candidates.
