NMC nod to MCh Urology at GMC Srinagar from 2022 academic year
Srinagar: In a major development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the MCh Urology course at Super Specialty Hospital, Government Medical College Srinagar. The medical college hospital has been granted permission to begin the super speciality course with 2 seats from academic year 2022.
Speaking to the United News of India, the concerned officials confirmed, " The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted two seats per year to start M.Ch Urology course at Super Specialty Hospital, Government Medical College Srinagar. The permission has been granted by the NMC with an intake of two seats per year from the current Academic year 2022."

"It will boost the academic activities in the Department and will provide a platform for the medical students to carry out their research programme in the Super Specialty Branch, besides to augment manpower, in the form of Post-doctorate students, in the Department of Urology," Principal/Dean, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Prof. Samia Rashid while congratulating the Department of Urology said, as quoted by UNI.
"Such a great achievement is considered a major milestone in the history of Government Medical College, Srinagar", she added.
M Ch in Urology is an advanced 3-year duration SS degree course in medicine that is designed to equip qualified and experienced doctors with an evidence-based approach to healthcare practice.
In order to get admission into super speciality courses i.e. DM and MCh courses such as MCh Urology, the candidates need to qualify NEET SS entrance exam which is conduedt by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The candidates must possess a recognized degree of MS (Surgery) to apply for MCh Urology.
