Noida Sector 39 Hospital Gets Approval for 3 DNB Seats in two specialities
Noida: Bringing good news to the postgraduate medical aspirants, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has granted permission to the Sector 39 district hospital in Noida to launch a post-graduate Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Programme in two specialities.
While the institute has received approval for two seats in the gynecology department, one seat has been granted in the medicine department of the institute.
DNB programme is a three-year course and it is equivalent to Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Master of Surgery (MS) courses. NBEMS, an autonomous organisation under the Union Health Ministry, gives permission to private and government hospitals including district hospitals to run DNB courses in various specialties. Such approval is granted by NBEMS if the hospitals meet the eligibility criteria and infrastructural requirements.
Confirming that the hospital has received permission for 3 DNB seats, the officials told HT that permission for the DNB courses will enable the MBBS doctors at the hospital to provide consultations to patients while also pursuing the course.

Further, the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), Noida, Dr. Renu Agarwal added that the permission for DNB Programme also allows them to enhance their educational and healthcare services in the area.
"The hospital has been allocated two seats in the obstetrics and gynecology department and one seat in the medicine department," she told Hindustan Times, adding "The initiative aligns with the government’s vision to strengthen medical education and provide quality healthcare at the district level."
In the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Dr Ruchi Singh from the Department will lead the teaching side alongside monitoring the patient care at the facility and in the case of the Medicine Department, CMS Dr. Agarwal will be in charge.
Officials informed that the inspections at Noida District Hospital were held three months ago by a DNB team. Dr. Agarwal added, "After a thorough inspection, we have received approval for three seats. The DNB programme will provide opportunities for MBBS doctors to advance their education while contributing to patient care."
Meanwhile, Gautam Budh Nagar Health Department officials informed that the Uttar Pradesh Government had planned to initiate DNB courses in the district hospitals and according to this plan, the Noida District Hospital had applied to start classes in medicine, gynecology, and surgery departments.
Officials informed HT that many district hospitals have received approval to offer these DNB courses in the recent years. Similar courses are currently available at Sector 30 Child PGI, Sector 24 ESIC hospital, and GIMS in Greater Noida.
