PGIMER Invites Online Applications For House Job Dentistry July 2023 Session, details
Chandigarh: Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has invited applications for House Job Dentistry (Oral Health Sciences) for July 2023 Session.
Detailed schedule –
1. House Job (OHS) application form closing date - 17.05.2023
2. Correction Window for House Job (OHS) - 19.05.2023 to 20.05.2023
3. Computer-Based Entrance Test (CBT) - 03.06.2023
4. Expected date of declaration of result - 13.06.2023
Application and examination fee -
1. General /OBC: Rs. 1500/- + Transaction Charges as applicable.
2. SC/ST Category: Rs. 1200/- + Transaction Charges as applicable
3. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) Candidates are exempted from fee payment.
All candidates must deposit the above fees through the online payment gateway at the House Job courses application portal w.e.f. 27.04.2023 to 17.05.2023.
The candidates seeking admission to the entrance examination must submit their application in the prescribed format available online with the prospectus on www.pgimer.edu.in. All the candidates should take a printout of the application form after completing all details.
The candidates must read the prospectus and instructions carefully before starting online registration and ensure no column is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence/request for reconsideration will be entertained. They are also advised to download and take a print of the application form. They should retain a copy of the application form till the completion of the admission process.
No candidate should register more than one application. All candidates are required to ensure that the Photo/Signature is uploaded according to the instructions provided in the prospectus. Failure to do so may result in rejection of applications. Duplicate applications from any applicant will result in the cancellation of all such applications. No intimation regarding such summary rejections will be provided.
Successful Online Registration will be acknowledged to the applicant‘s Registered Email ID. The Registration Form will remain Under Review regarding uploaded images and eligibility.
Roll Numbers/Admit Cards/Hall tickets for appearing in the entrance examination will be available to eligible candidates approximately ten (10) days in advance and can be downloaded from the website by logging into their accounts on the website with their respective login id and password. Roll Numbers / Admit Cards will NOT be sent by post.
The following documents need to be attached along with the registration slip –
The candidates must upload their self-attested/attested copies of certificates/documents in support of their educational qualifications, marks, date of birth, category, experience etc. Suppose a candidate fails to upload self-attested copies of the abovementioned documents. In that case, their candidature will be cancelled, and they will not be allowed to participate in subsequent stages of the selection/admission process.
Declaration of result –
The final House Job (OHS) result will only be displayed on the PGI website at www.pgimer.edu.in. Results of individual candidates will not be informed by telephone, and candidates are requested not to make calls to the Academic Section for such information.
Qualification requirements –
House job (Dentistry) –
1. Must hold a degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) recognized by the Dental Council of India
2. Must have either completed or due to complete compulsory rotatory internship training on or before December 31st for the January session and June 30th for the July session, respectively
3. Must be registered with the Central/State Dental Registration Council
The candidates selected for House Job (Oral Health Sciences) are appointed for six months. On the recommendation of the Head of the Department, this period can be extended up to one year. House jobs will be offered once in the department for a maximum period of one year. Candidates are eligible for House jobs within three years after obtaining the BDS degree. The candidates who have already done House Jobs in any Hospital or Institute are not eligible for House Jobs at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Seats –
Three seats are tentatively available for House Job (OHS) for the July 2023 session.
Reservation of seats –
The following is the category in which reservation is given –
1. Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) & Other Backward Classes (OBC)
2. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PWBD)

If two or more candidates obtain equal percentile scores, then inter-se merit for selection shall be determined on the following basis –
1. A candidate with higher aggregate marks in the BDS examination shall rank higher than one with lower marks.
2. If the aggregate marks obtained in the BDS examination are the same, then a candidate senior in age shall rank higher than a junior candidate.
Merit list & minimum cut-off percentile –
A list of House Jobs will be prepared based on percentile scores obtained by all the candidates appearing in the entrance test (irrespective of their category), and applying the above method for resolving ties shall be prepared. The candidates with minimum cut-off percentile in the entrance test, as mentioned below against each category, will qualify for counselling/admission –
1. Open (General) - 55th percentile
2. OBC, PwBD, SC/ST - 50th percentile
Candidates from reserved categories are also eligible for general category seats (open seats). Thus, a combined merit list of all the candidates will also be prepared in addition to category wise list.
Admission –
1. Allocation of House Jobs (OHS) will be done based on personal counselling, strictly in order of merit in the Entrance Test.
2. The number of candidates to be considered for 1st counselling will be three times the total number of seats to be filled for each category of candidates, provided the candidates fulfil the cut-off percentile/qualifying percentile mentioned in the ‘Selection Procedure’.
3. The selection will be finalized only after the counselling of the candidates.
4. Any candidate who is absent at the time of counselling will not be considered for admission.
5. Under exceptional circumstances, if candidates report for counselling after their turn, they will be considered for admission only in the disciplines available.
6. The seats will be filled purely on a merit basis. All the candidates must bring the original certificates during counselling and joining.
7. Selected candidates must join the course on the prescribed date as indicated in their admission letter. The selection of candidates who fail to join by the specified date shall automatically stand cancelled.
8. Medical fitness is a pre-condition for admission to the House Job of the Institute. Selected candidates will be medically examined by a Medical Board constituted by the institute.
Spot admission through open counselling -
After counselling eligible candidates of reserved categories in spot counselling, the seats remain unfilled after exhausting the merit list of qualified reserve category candidates will be converted into General/UR seats. These seats will be filled strictly based on Common Merit Rank, regardless of category.
In addition, those seats that are vacated due to surrender resignation/cancellation/mismatch of biometric/facial verification etc., by the candidates who have joined in the July 2023 session will be included in the vacant seats for Spot admission through open counselling.
The candidates who have secured the minimum cut-off percentile in the entrance test as per their respective category are eligible for spot cum open counselling. Candidates getting open counselling seats must join on the same day. The exact date of open counselling will be notified separately, subject to the availability of seats.
No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for attending any Counselling. No individual communication will be sent for the Counselling session. Appointment to House Job will be closed on July 31st, 2023.
Fees and dues –
1. Registration fee Rs. 500/- (non-refundable)
2. Amalgamated Fund Rs. 360/- for six months (non-refundable)
3. Security Rs. 1000/-(refundable after completion of course)
4. Hostel Security Rs. 5000/- (refundable) to be deposited with the Hostel Warden if accommodation is allotted.
Fees and other charges, once paid, shall not be refunded in any case, including that of candidates leaving the institute before the completion of their term or not joining the institute for any reason.
The fee must be paid by the prescribed date, i.e. 10th of July for the January and January 10th for the July sessions. For late payment, a fine @Rs. 5/- per day will be charged up to a maximum of 15 days. After 15 days, the name of the non-paying candidate shall be removed from the rolls of the institute. For re-admission, if otherwise eligible, a sum of Rs. 500/- will be charged as a registration fee in addition to the fine. Such a candidate will have to repeat their training period for which they remain off the rolls.
The security deposit will be released only after the receipt of the “No Dues Certificate” on completion of the course duration. No security will be released to those candidates who do not join or discontinue the course midway.
Duration and emoluments –
The candidates selected for House Job (Oral Health Sciences) are appointed for six months. On the recommendation of the Head of the Department, this period can be extended up to one year. During this period, the House Job will be entitled to payments prescribed by the Government of India. This translates to the basic pay of Rs. 56100/- in the pay matrix (Level-10) as per the 7th CPC plus other allowances as applicable. House Job is for a period up to June 30th for the January session and December 31st for the July session.
