Pondicherry University Urged to Publish MBBS Fourth-Year Exam Results
Puducherry- The MBBS students and their parents have urged Pondicherry Central University to expedite the publication of MBBS fourth-year examination results of four medical colleges without any delay.
V. Bala Balasubramanyam, president of the Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association, has made this request to the Pondicherry Central University through a memorandum. The memorandum has been sent to the university Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and Controller of Examinations.
Along with this, a copy of the memorandum was also sent to the Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Rector of the university, who has also been appealed to publish the examination results without any delay.
Pondicherry Central University has conducted its MBBS 4th year examination for students of various medical colleges on March 27, 2024, since then 55 days have passed but the results have not been declared yet.
According to Hindu report, the memorandum said, “the university had not released the result even after 55 days of holding the examination in March for students belonging to various medical colleges”
Let us tell you that, the four medical colleges whose results are being delayed are Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (IGMCRI), Sri Mankula Vinayagar Medical College (SMVC), Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC) and Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), report edex Live.
Meanwhile, the Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association have also pointed out the huge difference in the timing of the declaration of results between the Pondicherry Central University and other medical institutions.
Such as the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) which has also conducted its fourth-year MBBS examination in January 2024. After this, within just four days, JIPMER published its 4th-year MBBS exam results. Along with this, JIPMER has also started the internships for final-year students from February 1.
Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University also conducted its final year MBBS examinations which was completed by 16th May 2024 and also promptly released the results thereafter.
This was the reason why the students of Pondicherry Central University were worried as the longer the delay in the declaration of results, the more it would affect their internships as it will make them eligible for postgraduate entrance exams conducted biennially by premier institutes like JIPMER, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) and others.
In light of these pressing concerns, the Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association has earnestly requested the Pondicherry Central University that as final-year students have to join internships to enable them to appear for their Post-Graduate entrance examination conducted every six months in national medical institutes like AIIMS and Jipmer, the delay in announcing the fourth year results by the university is affecting the internship prospects of students.
