Tenkasi: Scared of failing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examination, another Tamil Nadu based NEET aspirant committed suicide by hanging herself to death on Thursday afternoon after the answer keys of NEET were made available online.
This was the third attempt for the 21-year-old medical aspirant, identified as Rajalakshmi, who could not clear the centralized medical entrance test in the previous two attempts. She was afraid that she would not be able to clear the exam and fulfil her father's dream of becoming a doctor, adds ANI.
The father of the deceased student, is 54-years-old and a labourer by profession and her mother is 48-years-old and a homemaker.
Police are already investigating the matter and post mortem would be conducted on the body of the deceased student. Her body was sent to a Government hospital for autopsy.

As per the latest media report by Times Now, the deceased medico took this extreme step of ending her life at around 11:30 am when her parents went to work.
Speaking to ANI, District Collector of Tenkasi informed, "Police say she took her life due to fear of NEET exam result. An autopsy will be conducted shortly on the woman's body. We are investigating in this regard."
National Testing Agency conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) for 1872343 candidates at 3570 different Centres located in 497 Cities throughout the country including 14 Cities outside India on 17 July 2022. While NTA recently released the Answer Keys for the exam, the results of NEET UG 2022 will be declared on September 7.
Tamil Nadu has witnessed several incidents of suicide over the years where NEET aspirants ended their lives from the fear of failing the exam. Earlier in July, 2022, a 19-year-old aspirant, scared of failing in NEET 2022, had committed suicide by hanging himself from ceiling of his house. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the student was depressed over being unable to choose the right path in education.
