Stressed over Exams, Final Year MBBS jumps in front of train, ends life
Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a final-year MBBS student of Nagpur's Government Medical College and Hospital committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in the city.
The 24-year-old medico, a native of Washim district, came in the way of a train in the Butibori area on Saturday, a police official informed PTI. He lived in Hostel No. 4 of the government hospital.
The medico was depressed over his performance in the final year examination, the official said. He was found dead on the railway track near Bothli village.
Although no suicide note was discovered, the Police informed prima facie the student died by suicide due to exam stress. The Butibori police sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case of accidental death. The deceased's father is a teacher in Washim district, while his sister is a doctor, the official added.

As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the deceased medico left the hostel of the medical college on Saturday afternoon without informing anyone. His body on the track was first discovered by a railway trackman.
Commenting on the matter, Senior PI Bhimaji Patil of Buti Bori police station of Nagpur rural informed the Daily, "The student’s two-wheeler (Activa) was found on the road around 100 metres from the track."
"As per preliminary information, the student was depressed as his viva examination had not gone well a day ago. Police were informed at around 2pm about the suicide. The victim’s cellphone was also damaged in the incident," added the police officer.
Mentioning that the ID card found with the body helped the police officers to identify the deceased, Patil added, "The registration number of the vehicle helped in tracing his address. After cops alerted the family members, they informed his friends who rushed to the spot. No suicide note was found."
Sources informed the Daily that the deceased medico was worried about the upcoming final-year examinations, especially about the paediatric paper scheduled to take place on Monday.
His friends and colleagues informed that the deceased student was withdrawn and under pressure in the days leading up to the incident. Shocked at the news of the death, students and faculty gathered at the medical emergency department where the medico's body was taken for post-mortem.
The Daily adds that the GMCH administration expressed condolences to the bereaved family of the medico and they informed that they were fully cooperating with the police investigation. While the probe has been commenced by the Police, the exact cause behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained.
