Stressed over NEET exam, Hyderabad aspirant commits suicide
Hyderabad: Stressed over the upcoming NEET exam, a 20-year-old aspirant allegedly committed suicide at his house in Quthbullapur recently.
The student, who had been attending classes at a coaching centre to prepare for the examination, experienced stress and uncertainty regarding his chances of qualifying for the exam. The police reported that the student had previously failed the exam twice.
Therefore, this was the third time he was preparing for the exam but he reportedly gave up and took the extreme step, fearing the outcome.
In a suicide note discovered by the police from his room, the student apologised to his parents and expressed his anguish and mental state due to exam stress.

According to his father, the student did not show any signs of stress or depressed behaviour before taking the extreme step and he had a bright and joyful side to him.
However, things took a shocking turn when the student before ending his life informed his friends about his decision to commit suicide on on the college’s student WhatsApp group. After noticing the message, one of the students called his parents at midnight and informed them about the matter but it was too late. When his parents went to check up on him, they found him dead.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, his father Aravind Jaiswal said, “He had never seemed so down before. He was bright and quick to learn. He wanted to pursue NEET out of his own interest and we never pressured him to study. However, he expressed feeling hopeless after failing NEET earlier. After we provided emotional support, he seemed to be back to his normal self. He was the oldest in our family. He was playful and very supportive of his sister."
“Even during dinner, he seemed normal. We were asleep when the incident happened. We received a call from his friends at around 12.30 am, that he had messaged them about ending his life. Fearing the worst, I hurried to check on him, only to find that he had died by suicide.”
Following this, a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. The police have sent his body for postmortem to Gandhi Hospital.
