Telangana HC rejects MNR Medical College medicos plea seeking transfer to other institutes
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court rejected the plea of PG medicos of MNR Medical College to be transferred to other medical colleges.
The medicos alleged several lacks in the infrastructure and also pointed out at the shortage of teaching staff in the MNR College. Citing the shortcomings, the medicos approached the high court and sought it's intervention to get transferred too a properly equipped medical institutes.
Previously Medical dialogues reported that the National Medical Commission (NMC) cancelled MBBS and PG Medical admissions in three private medical colleges in the state including MNR Medical College and hospital, Sangareddy. Besides the recognition for MBBS admissions, MNR Medical College lost PG seats in specialist courses like pathology, anatomy, ophthalmology and biochemistry.
This came after the Union Health Ministry carried out a surprise inspection on 12 medical colleges in 5 different cities and shut down one of them after reportedly finding that they were allegedly not confirming to the prescribed minimum standard requirement. Hence, the medicos has to be relocated to other medical institutes.
Around 48 such affected PG medical students belonging to MNR Medical College had approached a Division bench of Telangana High Court and sought a direction on the NMC for issuing guidelines to the State for reallocating the students to existing Government and Private Medical Colleges in the State within a specific and short time frame without affecting the Academic year of the Petitioners.
Providing relief to the medical students in Telangana who had to be located after NMC cancelled their admission, the high court directly the authorities of Kaloji Narayan Rao University of health Sciences (KNRUHS) and private medical colleges not to insist on payment of fees from those students who have been accommodated in new collages as a part of relocation until the central government takes its final decision.
A few days ago the medical college finally secured permission from they concerned authorities to run the college. Hence, the transferred students were ordered to join back their respective college, reports the Deccan Chronicle. However, pointing out at the inadequacies of infrastructure of MNR Medical College, the medicos approached the court to allow them to relocate.
