UP Govt hospitals to soon offer 8 NBE diploma courses for MBBS doctors
Gorakhpur: Bringing good news to MBBS doctors who want to pursue specialisation, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has proposed running a two-year diploma course in eight departments of government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh.
NBE has proposed running diploma courses in eight departments including anesthesia, gynaecology, paediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), radiodiagnosis, medicine, Ophthalmology and the department of Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases.
In fact, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also reportedly shown interest on the NBE proposal, reports Live Hindustan. Therefore, the CM has sent the concerned proposal to the administrative staff for the purpose of consideration.
Established back in 1975, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) operates as an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
NBEMS conducts post graduate and post-doctoral examinations in approved disciplines leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) and Fellow of National Board (FNB).
DNB degrees, which are postgraduate degrees awarded to MBBS graduates, are recognized medical qualifications approved by the Government of India.
As per the latest media report by Live Hindustan, the National Vice-President of NBE, Dr Shiva Kant Misra informed that back in 2021-2022, NBE had written to the Government regarding diploma courses in the government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh and for the same NBE officials had to meet the CM.
The daily adds that the former State Vice President of IMA, Dr RP Tripathi, met the CM on the behalf of NBE and handed over the proposal to the Chief Minister.
He informed the daily that these diploma courses are run in more than 12 provinces in India and it will help increase the quality of doctors operating in the rural areas. This diploma course will be conducted in the district hospital and at least two senior doctors will be required in the department for this purpose.
