AIIMS Kalyani Recruitment scam: CID summons kin of 2 BJP MLAs
Kolkata: In a probe related to alleged irregularities in recruitment at AIIMS, Kalyani, in Nadia district, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police has summoned relatives of two BJP MLAs.
The CID sources stated that the daughter-in-law of BJP's Chakdah MLA Bankim Chandra Ghosh identified as Anshua Dhar Ghosh was summoned on July 8. Ghosh has however sought time from the CID. Further, the daughter of BJP MLA from Bankura Niladri Sekhar Dana, Moitri Dana has also been summoned, added the sources. A CID team is set to meet Dana on July 11, reports the Indian Express.

A senior CID official said, "Dhar Ghosh sent us an email on Thursday, seeking ten days. We have examined four to five persons in this case. The investigation is at an early stage so not much can be revealed."
The CBI began an investigation into the case more than a month back after an FIR was filed against Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar, BJP's Ranaghat MP Jagannath Sarkar, and Bankura MLA Niladri Sekhar Dana alleging irregularities in recruitment pro at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani. The FIR named eight persons, including the Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar, MP Jagannath Sarkar, BJP MLAs Niladri Shekhar Dana, and Bankim Chandra Ghosh.
The FIR was registered after a complaint was filed by Sariful Islam on May 20 who alleged that the daughter of MLA Dana was recruited to the post of a data entry operator monthly salary of Rs 30,000 at AIIMS, Kalyani despite of her not appearing for the recruitment exam, reports the Indian Express. The FIR alleged that the eight persons named misused their positions to help appoint people known to them at the Central government-run multispecialty hospital at Kalyani in Nadia district.
They were charged under sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (acts done by several people with a common intention) of IPC and under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Meanwhile, the BJP has alleged that the state police and CID are working at the behest of the ruling Trinamool Congress, stating that the jobs were of contractual nature and hence recruitments were not directly handed by AIIMS, Kalyani.
