34 year old doctor drowns in Ganga at Har ki Pauri during outing

Haridwar: A 34-year-old doctor working at Metro Hospital drowned in the Ganga at Har Ki Pauri after reportedly being swept away by strong currents during a late-night outing with colleagues, police said.

The deceased, a native of Noida in Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Navodaya Nagar, Roshnabad. According to police, the doctor had visited Har Ki Pauri on the night of August 31 along with three hospital colleagues. During the outing, he reportedly slipped into the river and was carried away by the swift current.

The incident was reported to the authorities on September 1, following which a joint search operation was launched by the Har Ki Pauri police, Jal Police and emergency rescue teams. Personnel conducted an extensive search along the river in an effort to locate the missing doctor.

After an extensive search, the doctor’s body was recovered near the Pathri Power House area on Wednesday evening.

“The body has been recovered and sent for a post-mortem examination. Further legal proceedings are currently underway,” said Haridwar City Kotwali in-charge KS Rana, reports TOI.

According to the Jantan Se Rishta, the police took possession of the body and completed the necessary formalities. News of the incident has left hospital staff and acquaintances in a state of shock. The family has also been informed of this tragic event.

Police said further proceedings would follow the post-mortem examination.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a tragic incident, a 26-year-old resident doctor at GMERS Medical College and Hospital in Gotri reportedly drowned in a Narmada Canal near Bhimpura village on Monday morning while on an outing with two friends. The deceased, a native of Khambhat, was a third-year resident pursuing dermatology at GMERS Medical College and Hospital. He had gone to the canal with two friends when he reportedly slipped and fell into the water. His friends raised an alarm, after which efforts were made to locate him. His body was eventually fished out of the canal and taken to the hospital.
