4 UP Govt doctors sacked over unauthorised absence

Doctor Terminated
Lucknow: Taking strict action against four government doctors who remained absent from duty without prior approval, the Uttar Pradesh Health Department has terminated their services.
Among those dismissed is a faculty member from the orthopaedics department at Kannauj Medical College. The other three include a paediatrician posted at the district hospital in Pilibhit, a doctor at a community health centre in Shahjahanpur, and one posted in Ambedkarnagar.

In a related move, three other government doctors have been issued show-cause notices for laxity in duty. A doctor at the Kishni community health centre in Mainpuri was found absent without permission, while two other doctors from Prayagraj and Mathura were pulled up for negligence in treating patients.
Principal Secretary of Medical and Health, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, issued the termination orders on Friday at the direction of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who is also the state’s medical education and health minister, reports HT.
“A faculty member in the department of orthopaedics at the medical college in Kannauj was removed for staying absent from duty for long time,” said Pathak.
Through this, the government has made it clear that such indiscipline will not be tolerated in the state, and strict action will be taken to ensure better public health services.
Medical Dialogues had reported that more than 400 doctors posted as probationary medical officers at healthcare facilities across Maharashtra were terminated for being absent from duty for a long time. The action was taken by the Maharashtra Health Department after the department found that these doctors had not reported to work for an extended period.
These doctors were appointed as probationary medical officers under the ‘Group A’ government service category.
