Agra: Senior surgeon goes missing, police launches search operation
Agra: A senior surgeon went missing under mysterious circumstances after he left home for his nursing home in trans-Yamuna area on Tuesday night, while his car was found a day later at a 70km distance from Dholpur district of neighboring Rajasthan.
An FIR was registered in this connection at Itimad-ud-Daula police station of Agra, following which combing operation in Chambal ravines were launched by the Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan police as well who crossed river and searched over a dozen villages on Wednesday to trace the missing doctor.
Cops are speculating that the doctor must have been honey-trapped by a gang and abducted. However, the doctor's family confirmed that they did not received any call for ransom from the abductors till Wednesday night.
Circle officer (CO) of Chatta in Agra, Deeksha Singh, told HT, "Efforts are on to trace the missing doctor who left home for his nursing home on Tuesday night, but did not reach the hospital. The mobile phone of Dr Umakant Gupta is switched off, but its last location has been traced at Saiyyan in outskirts of city. Wife of the missing doctor has lodged an FIR of missing at Itimad-ud-Daula police station."
"CCTV footages are being checked. Police have also contacted Rajasthan police of the border district as last location Saiyyan falls on way to Rajasthan," the CO added.
