Ahmedabad horror: On-duty Doctor brutally stabbed by patient, 2 attendants for insisting on filing an MLC
Ahmedabad: In a horrific incident, a 25-year-old on-duty medical officer at Lokhandwala Hospital in Dariapur was brutally stabbed by a knife in the left side of his chest by a patient and his two attendants inside the hospital premises, after a dispute over filing a medico-legal case.
After sustaining severe injuries in his chest area, the doctor was rushed to the trauma ward of the Civil Hospital in Asarwa for emergency treatment. He is currently conscious and stable.
The brutal attack happened while the doctor was examining a patient with multiple injuries brought in by two unidentified men. The doctor informed them that the case required police intervention and advised them to seek treatment elsewhere due to the unavailability of a surgeon. However, the two attendants got angry over this and started an argument with the doctor.

The patient himself joined the duo in the argument and the situation escalated quickly. The confrontation turned violent and one of the assailants pulled out a knife from his waistband and stabbed the doctor multiple times.
As per a TOI news report, despite the sensitivity of the case, the police did not register a case of attempted murder but instead registered a complaint of causing grievous hurt against the three accused.
The incident took place around 9.15 pm on Monday when the three individuals initially physically assaulted the doctor and then stabbed him. The doctor in injured and bleeding condition began shouting for help. Staff members nearby and visitors at the hospital quickly came to the rescue of the doctor. When they intervened, the three individuals fled the scene.
Another doctor who was on duty at the hospital that day immediately called an ambulance and rushed the injured doctor to the trauma ward of the Civil Hospital in Asarwa. After receiving treatment, the doctor is stable now.
When the police were informed about the incident, they visited the doctor to take his statements. The doctor informed them that he would be able to identify the attackers.
An investigation is underway to nab the culprits and take action accordingly.
