AIIMS Jodhpur Anaesthesia medico found dead in hospital washroom, suicide suspected
Jodhpur: In a tragic incident, a first-year postgraduate student at AIIMS Jodhpur was found dead inside a washroom in the hospital. The police suspect it to be a case of suicide.
The medico, posted in the Department of Anaesthesia, reportedly went to the washroom during a break from duty in the operation theatre at around 1 pm. When he did not return, his colleagues searched for him and found him unconscious inside the washroom. He was rushed to the Emergency Department, where he was declared dead.
According to the PTI report, the deceased was identified as a resident doctor in the Department of Anaesthesia. “He was on duty in the OT on Tuesday. During break at about 1 pm, he came to his restroom but did not re-emerge to resume his duty,” Station House Officer (SHO), Basni, Nitin Dave said.
His colleagues started looking for him and called him on his phone. They heard it ringing in the bathroom. When no one answered the call, the door of the bathroom was broken open, where the medico was found lying on the floor in an unconscious state. He was rushed to the Emergency, where he was declared dead, reports PTI

The SHO said that some syringes were found beside him in the washroom, and it is suspected that he injected himself with a lethal drug.
“We informed his family members and are awaiting the post-mortem report,” he said.
According to police, no suicide note has been recovered from the spot so far.
Police have taken possession of the doctor's mobile phone and are examining the device and other evidence with the assistance of a forensic team. The scene is also being examined in detail to establish the sequence of events, officials further told PTI.
Police said they were looking into all possible aspects of the case and would take further legal action based on the findings of the investigation.
As per ETV Bharat, the medico had completed his MBBS studies at AIIMS Jodhpur. Subsequently, he moved to Delhi. He took the postgraduate (PG) entrance exam after a gap of about four to five years. Last year, he secured a seat in the Department of Anaesthesia at AIIMS Jodhpur.
