Assam Gynaecologist among 3 killed in road accident

Young Doctor Dies in Mysterious Canal Crash
Jagiroad: A gynaecologist at Morigaon Civil Hospital was among three people killed on Tuesday morning when a speeding Creta vehicle collided with a road divider and overturned on National Highway 27 at Silchang, Jagiroad.
According to police, the accident occurred around 3:30 am when a speeding Creta travelling from Jagiroad towards Nagaon lost control, struck the road divider, and skidded violently across the highway before crashing. The impact of the crash was so severe that the vehicle was mangled beyond recognition.
The deceased have been identified as Dr. Kantheswar Bordoloi, Ashfiq Hussain, and Manas Mahanta. All three died on the spot, while two other passengers sustained critical injuries and were transferred to Nagaon for medical treatment. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS-01EW-6546, was carrying five people at the time of the collision.

Local residents, along with highway patrol personnel, alerted the police, who launched a rescue operation and transported the injured to the hospital. The bodies of the deceased were later sent for post-mortem examination.
The incident has sent shockwaves through Morigaon, particularly among the medical community, as Dr. Bordoloi was a well-known figure in emergency obstetric care at the district hospital. He had recently gained attention for performing 21 caesarean section deliveries within 10 hours in September. Following the marathon surgical session, the district health authority issued him a show-cause notice over alleged non-compliance with sterilization and patient-safety protocols.
