Bengaluru doctor blackmailed over morphed photos, extorted of Rs 50000
Bengaluru: In yet another fraud case reported in the city, a complaint has been filed against an online fraudster for allegedly scamming a doctor of Rs 50,000 on Facebook.
The doctor s a 56-year-old resident of Sadashivanagar who was scammed after he allegedly shared his photos with the woman he met online on Facebook. Following this, the woman blackmailed him and extorted the money threatening to leak the photos on social media.
A case was registered under the Information Technology Act-2000 and section 384 (punishment for extortion) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the police station. An investigation is under process to nab the fraudster.

As per a media report in TOI, the incident took place on July 19 when a woman on Facebook befriended him by the fake name Neha Patel. After an exchange of thoughts, the duo became close and the woman asked for his private photos after gaining his confidence.
After having a collection of his private photos, the woman then obscenely morphed the photos and showed the doctor. She then started blackmailing and threatening him of leaking the photos on social media and to his contacts.
Scared of being shamed, the doctor reportedly transferred Rs 50,000 to a bank account number which was provided by the woman. However, this did not stop the woman from blackmailing. She began to ask for more money which prompted the doctor to share the incident with his son.
Later, his son contacted the police and shared the incident.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about a man from Rajasthan being arrested by the Crime Branch officers for allegedly morphing a doctor's face in an obscene video to extort money. He also threatened the doctor that he would make the video viral if the doctor failed to provide the money.
