Class X pass man held for allegedly practising allopathic medicine in Vadodara for 15 years

Vadodara: In a major crackdown on illegal medical practice, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) nabbed a Class X pass man from the Akota area of Vadodara on Wednesday for allegedly practising as an allopathic doctor without a medical degree for 15 years.
Police said they received information that a man was operating a clinic despite having no recognised medical qualification. Acting on the tip-off, LCB personnel raided the premises and detained the accused.

The accused, a native of West Bengal, was allegedly operating in a private Clinic in the city. According to police, he was unable to produce a medical degree when asked to provide proof of his qualifications.
Speaking to TOI, Police said the accused had been practising as an allopathic doctor in the city for the past 15 years. The accused, who has studied only up to Class X, was allegedly prescribing medicines and treating patients at his clinic. The LCB seized cough syrup bottles, injections, tablets, glucose bottles and cash from the premises.
The arrest is the latest in a series of alleged bogus-doctor cases reported in and around Vadodara.
On August 20, Vadodara rural police arrested another West Bengal native from Raypura village. He was allegedly running a clinic in the village and treating patients without the required medical qualifications.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a bogus doctor was arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) rural unit in Raypura village of Vadodara on Thursday for allegedly practising medicine without possessing a medical degree. Police said they had received information that a 48-year-old was running a clinic and treating patients despite not possessing the required medical qualifications. Acting on the tip-off, SOG officials raided the clinic and asked him to produce his medical degree.
