Court denies Homeopathy doctor's bail plea accused of giving allopathy abortion pills to minor girl

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram Posco court has denied bail to a homoeopathic doctor accused of prescribing allopathy medicine to a minor girl for aborting her baby.

Single bench Judge M P Shibu rejected the bail of 62-year-old Prem Chand and also noticed that the doctor was practising allopathy medicine at a private clinic in Poonthura without any license.

In his verdict, the judge said the accused made this decision voluntarily and with full conscience, and that the offence was serious and unjustifiable.

TNIE reports that the Poonthura police marked Dr Chand as the second accused in the Posco Act case of the minor girl.

The incident took place when the minor girl went to the doctor with the first accused who allegedly impregnated her after finding out that she was pregnant. The doctor who was aware of the victim's age prescribed her allopathic medicine to abort her baby at his illegal clinic.

In light of the severity of the crime committed by an individual who is also a medical practitioner, public prosecutor J K Ajith Prasad pleaded for the court not to give any consideration to the accused.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a doctor of homoeopathy has been arrested for allegedly administering the wrong injection to a man, which led to his death, in Madhya Pradesh's Khandwa district. The doctor, who runs a clinic in Sindhi Colony, was arrested under the relevant provisions of the IPC and MP Ayurvigyan Parishad Adhiniyam, city superintendent of police (CSP) Lalit Gathre said.

The doctor's clinic was also sealed after a complaint was lodged against him for administering a wrong injection to a trader, who died two days after taking the jab four months ago.
