Crackdown on fake doctors in Ballari, Illegal clinics sealed

District Health Office Cracks Down on Unlicensed Medical Practitioners
Ballari: District Health and Family Welfare Officer Yalla Ramesh Babu has ordered the sealing of several clinics in Ballari district after finding individuals practising medicine without valid medical qualifications. The action followed the complaints regarding unqualified practitioners treating patients.
According to news reports, a clinic run by a fake doctor, located near Kolmi Chowk on Mullangi Sanjeevappa Street in Ballari city, was sealed after authorities found that he had been treating patients while falsely presenting himself as a qualified doctor. In another case, a clinic in Kudatini village run by another fake doctor was also sealed. According to health officials, he had studied only up to Class 10 and was providing medical treatment based on informal knowledge, without holding any authorised medical qualification.

Dr. Ramesh Babu has urged the public to seek treatment only from doctors with recognised and authorised medical degrees, warning that treatment by unqualified practitioners can pose serious health risks. He also advised people, particularly in rural areas, to verify the medical credentials of those practising as doctors, reports the Hindu.
Citizens were asked to report cases of unqualified medical practice to the District Health and Family Welfare Office, assuring that strict action will be taken under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments Act, 2007.
Taluk Health Officer R. Abdulla, District RCH Officer Hanumanthappa, Health Inspector K.H. Gopal, RBSK counsellor Manohar, and other medical staff were present during the inspection and sealing operations.
