Crackdown on Illegal Clinics in Agra, 11 Quacks Booked
Agra: Taking action against unqualified medical practitioners, the Uttar Pradesh health department filed FIRs against 11 quacks after they were found practising without a license and a valid medical degree in Agra.
While the department issued notices to the alleged quacks, they failed to provide proof of their medical backgrounds and qualifications as doctors leading the health department to take action against them.
Over the past two months, the health department conducted raids at several illegal hospitals and clinics and discovered these unqualified practitioners prescribing medications to patients and even performing deliveries and abortions at these unauthorized facilities.

Following this, the police have registered FIRs against 11 quacks under relevant sections of BNS and an investigation is underway.
Speaking to TOI, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Arun Srivastava said, "Reports on the issue are being sent to the administration and the police commissioner."
"During the raids, many doctors were found to be absent from duty and licence renewal of many hospitals was found to be pending. Several facilities were served notices requesting degrees of doctors, paramedical staff and NOCs from various departments but these were not furnished. Preparations are underway for taking action against them," he added.
Quackery has become a serious concern for state health departments in the country. While a large number of unqualified practitioners are being discovered through raids every month, actions are also being taken against them.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Telangana Medical Council cracked a whip on 10 fake doctors and two Ayurvedic doctors practising allopathy during their inspection in different areas in the state. The council filed FIRs in connection accordingly.
It was discovered that these two Ayurvedic doctors were recommending allopathic medications, high-dose antibiotics, and steroids to pregnant women, in addition to performing tests on them.
