Telangana Medical Council continues crackdown on Clinics of Fake Doctors

Hyderabad: Intensifying its search for fake doctors, the Telangana Medical Council recently cracked a whip on 10 fake doctors and two Ayurvedic doctors practising allopathy during their inspection in different areas in the state. The council is going to file FIRs in connection accordingly.

It was discovered that these two Ayurvedic doctors were recommending allopathic medications, high-dose antibiotics, and steroids to pregnant women, in addition to performing tests on them.

Besides, the 10 fake doctors posing as Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) and Primary Health Care Practitioners (PMPs) were running unauthorized clinics without the approval of the district medical officer. They were found administering high-dose antibiotics, steroids, painkiller injections, and saline infusions to patients who visited their clinics.

This comes after the council conducted raids in clinics at places like Champapet, Karmanghat, Saidabad, Dichpally, Manchippa, and Indalwai areas of Nizamabad district after receiving numerous complaints against them.

Based on the tip-off, the council formed two teams for inspection. One was led by vice chairman Dr Srinivas including members Dr Imran Ali and co-opt member Dr Rajiv who inspected areas like Champapet, Karmanghat and Saidabad. Another team headed by chairman Dr Mahesh Kumar including team members Dr Sunny Davis and Dr Sirish inspected Dichpally, Manchippa, and Indalwai areas.

Confirming that a FIR would be filed soon against these fake doctors under 34 and 54 of the NMC Act, Kumar told The Hans India, "According to the NMC Act, no one should practice modern medicine without MBBS and permission from the Telangana Medical Council.

People should recognise that all those who form boards called RMP and PMP and practice medicine without qualifications are fake doctors. Many people are suffering from health problems due to the medical treatment they do. They are punishable under the law and would be punished with one year in prison and a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh."

Meanwhile, Dr Imran Ali told Hans India, "We would file a complaint with the District Health and Medical Officer. Till now 350 FIRs have been filed across the State against PMPs so far in all over Telangana. They would get punished up to one-year imprisonment and face a penalty of Rs 5 lakh."
