Doctor Blackmailed for Rs 10 Lakh in Honey Trap, 3 Arrested

Palwal: In a recent fraud case, a doctor running a private nursing home in Palwal district was allegedly blackmailed for Rs 10 lakh with threats of being falsely implicated in a sexual harassment case if he failed to pay the money. The doctor fell victim to a honey trap set by a woman posing as a lawyer, a man pretending to be a Police Assistant sub-inspector, and a woman claiming to be a nurse.
The accused successfully extorted money from the doctor by threatening to ruin his reputation both on social media and in the local community. However, after the doctor reported the matter to the police, a special plan was made, leading to the arrest of all three accused.
According to the plan, the doctor handed over the money while the police team remained hidden nearby to catch the culprits red-handed. When the accused were in the process of accepting the money, the police immediately intervened and arrested all three on the spot. According to the police, the advocate and the police inspector are the alleged masterminds behind the scam.

According to The Financial World news report, the shocking honey trap incident came to light after Dr. Vijendra Singh, who runs a private nursing home on Dighot Road in Bamnikheda village, received a call two days ago from a woman claiming to be advocate Poonam Rao. She told him that a nurse working at his hospital, Priyanka, had accused him of molestation. Poonam threatened that if he didn’t pay Rs 10 lakh, they would file a rape case against him, ruin his reputation in the area, and defame him on social media. She also told the doctor that he could end up in jail for several years.
Sensing something suspicious, the doctor immediately informed the Sadar police station and shared the details with IPS officer Ayush Yadav. After this, Superintendent of Police Chandra Mohan formed a special team and laid a trap to catch the accused red-handed.
As per the plan, the police prepared Rs 6 lakh and asked the doctor to give the money to the accused advocate. Following this, the doctor and one of his associates reached the house of advocate Poonam Rao, where Rs 6 lakh was given in cash. When the remaining amount was demanded by them, Dr. Singh sent Rs 60,000 through Paytm and said that he would pay the remaining amount later.
As soon as the money was handed over and the accused stepped outside, the police team raided the location and arrested Poonam Rao on the spot. ASI Netram, who was inside the house counting the cash given by the doctor, was also caught red-handed. Shortly after, the police also arrested the nurse, Priyanka.
According to police records, the arrested ASI was posted on the ERP vehicle number 112, patrolling along the KMP Expressway.
Superintendent of Police Chandra Mohan has given instructions to the police to take strict action against all involved in the case attempted to frame a fake sex molesting case against a innocent doctor by threatening to implicate him in false rape case and extorting money.
Police investigation has revealed that the accused fake advocate was previously arrested in September 2022 for uploading a video on Instagram with a pistol. The police are interrogating the accused to ascertain in the investigation how many more people have been victimised by the gang in this way.
