Doctor blackmailed over nude video, loses nearly Rs 3 lakh
Lucknow: In another cybercrime case, a young doctor in Indiranagar reportedly fell victim to a cyber fraud and lost nearly Rs 3 lakh. The fraudsters allegedly posed as police officers, threatening to make his nude video viral and have him arrested.
According to the police, the fraudsters extorted money from the doctor through three separate online transactions. He first paid Rs 1.34 lakh, followed by Rs 1 lakh, and later another Rs 55,000.

As per the TOI news report, the incident occurred between December 24 and 26, when the doctor first received a call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as a police officer and claimed that he had an objectionable video of the doctor. He allegedly threatened legal action and arrest if the doctor failed to cooperate.
According to the complaint, the caller requested that the doctor contact another mobile number. When the doctor called that number, the person demanded money, saying it was necessary to protect his reputation and self-respect. The doctor was also warned that immediate action would be taken if he failed to pay.
Following this, the doctor became afraid of public humiliation and, in fear, reportedly transferred Rs 1,34,500 online on December 24. Two days later, the fraudsters allegedly contacted him again and forced him to transfer another Rs 1 lakh to an Indian Bank account located in Firozabad. In yet another call, a person again posing as a police official made the doctor transfer Rs 55,000.
In total, the doctor was cheated of approximately Rs 2.90 lakh through multiple online transactions. After growing suspicious, the doctor lodged an online complaint with the cybercrime helpline number 1930.
An FIR has now been registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating.
SHO Ghazipur (Indiranagar) Rajesh Kumar Maurya said efforts are on to trace the callers and the bank accounts used in the fraud.
