Doctor booked for allegedly sexually harassing colleague at Kalyan hospital

Thane: In a shocking incident, a doctor in Kalyan in Thane district has been booked for allegedly sexually harassing a hospital staff and obscenely misbehaving with her.

This case is being reported from Thane, where a case of sexual harassment has been registered against a doctor on the complaint of a hospital worker in Kalyan. The police gave this information on Thursday.

As per the 34-year-old complainant, she had gone to the cabin of the doctor seeking an increment and he allegedly asked in a suggestive manner what she could do in return, the official said.

No arrest has been made in the case and further probe into the allegation is underway, the Khadakpada police station official said.

Until the investigation is completed, it is unknown whether the doctor has a history of sexual harassment in the past with any other employees of the hospital.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that a Pune-based doctor was arrested by the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police for reportedly sexually harassing a female patient who had come to the clinic to take an injection.

The doctor reportedly began talking to the woman on a regular basis and attempted to get into a physical relationship with her. The doctor further called her to his clinic, claiming to offer an apology when the woman began resisting the doctor's demands.

Taking advantage of the situation, the doctor sexually harassed her. He also stalked her against her own wishes. She eventually went to the police station and lodged a complaint against the doctor.

In another case, an FIR was filed against three of her seniors at a government medical college in Kolkata for allegedly making sexual remarks and molesting her at the workplace.

The victim intern moved a case of sexual harassment at the Kolkata police station against three of her colleagues, two were from the first-year postgraduate batch and one was from the second-year post-graduate batch.
