Dr Ashok Puranik takes charge as new Executive Director of AIIMS Guwahati
Guwahati: Dr Ashok Puranik who was a professor at AIIMS Jodhpur has assumed charge as the new executive director of AIIMS Guwahati.
Puranik took over the new position on Sunday at a small ceremony in the presence of all the faculty members and officers. He took over the charge from Dr Ramji Singh, executive director, AIIMS Kalyani, who had additional charge as director in charge of AIIMS Guwahati.

The specialization of Dr Puranik includes acute care surgeries, trauma and surgical critical care, and laparoscopic surgeries, including laparoscopic inguinal, femoral incision, hernia repair, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and laparoscopic colorectal surgery, reports the Times of India.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet released a notification back on June 23rd, 2022, approving the name of Prof. Ashok Puranik, Head of Department of Surgery Department at AIIMS, Jodhpur for the post of Executive Director post of AIIMS Guwahati according to the proposal of the Ministry of Health and family welfare.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier also reported on this decision of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet which gave its nod for the Health Ministry's proposal regarding the appointment in the post of Executive Director at AIIMS Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Rishikesh, Guwahati, Awantipora and Darbhanga.

The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about similar appointment news in which the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi had appointed Dr Subrata Sinha who is the head of the Department of Biochemistry, Laboratory Medicine, and Dean (Research) as the new Dean (Academics) with effect from July 1, 2022. The memorandum issued by AIIMS on this matter stated, "With the approval of President, AIIMS New Delhi, Dr Subrata Sinha Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry, Laboratory Medicine and Dean (Research) is appointed as Dean (Academic) against a non-substantive post of Dean (Academic) with effect from July 1 in addition to his own existing duties and responsibilities, till further orders." It added, "He will, however, not be entitled to any remuneration/ honorarium for the said assignment."
