Dr Manoj Kumar Verma Named Part-Time Member of National Medical Commission

Dehradun: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. has appointed Dr. Manoj Kumar Verma, a senior official with the Uttarakhand Medical Council, as a part-time member of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Dr. Verma currently serves as the Senior District Tuberculosis Officer in Dehradun, operating under the District TB Elimination Society, a part of the National Health Mission (NHM), Uttarakhand.
With over 16 years of experience since joining as a Medical Officer on February 8, 2008, Dr. Verma has demonstrated extensive expertise in planning, management, administration, public relations, and the monitoring and evaluation of public health programs. His professional journey includes key roles in several critical health initiatives across various districts of Uttarakhand.
He has served in multiple capacities, such as Medical Officer for Health and Sanitation in Haridwar Municipal Corporation, and held important responsibilities in the National AIDS Control Programme across Haridwar, Tehri, and Dehradun. Dr. Verma has also worked as the Additional Chief Medical Officer in Tehri Garhwal, overseeing operations for both NHM and the District Health Administration.
His leadership extended to programs such as the District Immunization Drive, Leprosy Elimination, Viral Hepatitis Control, and AIDS awareness. He has also been appointed as Mela Adhikari for the upcoming Ardh Kumbh Mela in Haridwar in 2027, a significant logistical and public health responsibility.
In addition to his new role in the NMC as the state representative from Uttarakhand, Dr. Verma is a State Executive Member of the State Red Cross Society, further reinforcing his commitment to public service and community health. Talking to Medical Dialogues, Dr. Verma stated, “The most pressing problem in the health sector is violence against healthcare professionals. Authorities must ensure the safety of on-duty working professionals. I am glad to be a part of the apex medical body, and I will try to do my level best to work for improving the health sector.”
Sanchari Chattopadhyay has pursued her M.A in English and Culture Studies from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal. She likes observing cultural specificities and exploring new places.
