Dr Rahul Jain takes charge as Principal and Controller of RNT Medical College

Udaipur: Dr Rahul Jain has been appointed as the Principal and Controller of Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College (RNT) following orders issued by the State Government. Dr Jain has served as Superintendent for the past eight years and is currently associated with District Hospital Ambamata as well as the Satellite Hospital Hiran Magri.
After assuming the new role, Dr Jain highlighted several initiatives aimed at improving healthcare services. One of his main priorities is to reinforce the emergency department by assigning senior doctors so that critically ill patients receive improved care. He has also proposed introducing a night outpatient department to ease the heavy patient load in the morning OPD. The move is expected to help patients seek treatment without having to visit doctors at their private residences during evening or night hours, reports Udaipur Times.
Moreover, vacant land near the veterinary hospital and surrounding areas would also be identified to establish a Tribal Research, Diagnosis, and Advisory Centre to ensure easy access to medical consultation and treatment for patients coming from the tribal regions of southern Rajasthan.
According to The Daily, Dr Jain has also pointed out that initiatives would be taken to organise research work, conferences, and seminars to improve the institute’s national ranking while maintaining proper academic activities. Moreover, there has been a significant patient load and parking problems at Maharana Bhupal (MB) Hospital and Panna Dhai Hospital; hence, the new head aims to ensure a sufficient workforce by recruiting specialist doctors at the Hiran Magri and Ambamata satellite hospitals. This would allow patients with common and minor conditions to receive treatment, alleviating the burden on main hospitals.
Furthermore, renovation plans for the Badi Medical College campus are underway to shift some departments there, a viable option to avoid the crowd and parking problems at MB Hospital. He is also focusing on restarting evening training clinics for medical students to facilitate proper training for future doctors.
