Female resident doctor brutally attacked with iron rod at Maha Hospital, suffers head injury
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: In an incidence of violence against medical professionals, a female resident doctor at Gati Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar was allegedly brutally attacked with an iron rod on her head by a group of miscreants, reportedly over a parking dispute on Thursday.
The brutal assault captured on the hospital's CCTV camera showed a group of miscreants violently allegedly assaulting a patient with the female resident doctor being injured with an iron rod in the process.
During the altercation, the doctor sustained severe head injuries following which five accused have been arrested under section 353 (assault upon a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and four staffers from the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) have been suspended by the hospital authorities.

The decision was taken after the security personnel who were present at the scene failed to prevent the altercation and protect the doctor, leading to their subsequent suspension.
The incident came to light after the video of the incident went viral on social media showing the miscreants forcefully entering the hospital premises, creating chaos. The miscreants are seen walking towards a bed where an injured individual is undergoing treatment. In no time, the miscreants suddenly attacked the patient with an iron rod.
Amidst the chaos, a female doctor standing nearby gets hit by the rod sustaining a major injury. She can also be seen walking away from the scene with her hands covering the wound.
According to an India Today news report, the attack stemmed from a parking dispute with a neighbouring shopkeeper, which escalated into a violent confrontation at the hospital.
In addition to the doctor suffering severe head injuries, the patient who was the target of the miscreants also sustained critical injuries.
Following the attack, the incident was reported to the police and a case was registered at the Begampura police station. Acting on the FIR, the police arrested five accused out of seven miscreants involved in the case and further investigation is underway.
Demanding strict action against the miscreants, NCP MP Supriya Sule condemned the attack and criticised the government as to why these incidents are happening again and again.
In her post, Sule wrote, "There was an incident where a gang broke into the Ghati Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and beat up the resident doctor with a rod. This is a very serious matter. If even the doctors working in the hospital are not safe, how can patient care remain viable?"
Further seeking a thorough probe into the incident, Supriya Sule also tagged the official CMO account and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to attract their attention to the matter.
Sule further wrote in her post that, "Originally, this state did not have a full-time Home Minister. Therefore, this kind of thing is happening and the law and order has deteriorated. It is necessary for the government to conduct a thorough investigation in this matter and take strict action against the rioters. @CMOMaharashtra @Dev_Fadnavis"
